Java is the main programming language used at the IT University where I'm studying. I have no prior experience in the language, even though I've used another OOP language before (C++). So far my impression of the language is rather mixed. You need to write way more just to make a simple program like "Hello World!" compared to C++.
The nice thing about the language is that it seems to be fairly easy to make simple GUIs (Graphical User Interface) in Java. Have only read about 80 pages in my 1300 page introduction book to the Java programming language so there's still a lot of stuff to learn.
I'm really looking forward to learning it though!
